2009 ![]() Understanding Muslim Ethnic Communities: The Change Institute was commissioned by Communities and Local Government to undertake research on England's diverse Muslim communities. The result is a fourteen volume series of publications on thirteen Muslim 'communities' grouped by country of heritage. The publications provide a starting point for understanding the diversity of England's Muslim communities and highlight issues both common and unique for different Muslim ethnic populations. Benchmarking Black, Asian and ethnic minority leadership in the creative and cultural sector: In order to understand and address the reasons for under-representation in the sector and the limited progression into leadership roles we need to have a more information on the challenges faced by potential leaders from BAME backgrounds and sufficient data to set a baseline against which future progress can be measured. To help address these issues, the Cultural Leadership Programme and Arts Council England’s decibel initiative commissioned The Change Institute to undertake the first comprehensive baseline report on BAME leadership in the creative and cultural sector. It has been done with cross sector support from Arts Council England, the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and Creative & Cultural Skills (CCSkills). Benchmarking Black, Asian and ethnic minority leadership in the creative and cultural sector (Executive summary) Benchmarking Black, Asian and ethnic minority leadership in the creative and cultural sector (Full report) Cultural Leadership Programme Website 2008 ![]() Studies on violent radicalisation: In 2006 and 2007, four studies were undertaken on behalf of the European Commission to analyse in depth the problem of radicalisation leading to terrorism from various angles that were considered important for the EU's policy-making in the area. The studies are comparative in nature and based on fieldwork and case studies. CI produced two of the four reports, Beliefs, ideologies and narratives of violent radicalisation and Best practices in cooperation initiatives between authorities and civil society with a view to the prevention of and response to violent radicalisation.

2007 ![]() Promoting Equal Rights in the Field of Education: The Change Institute conducted a major review and examination of International education policy and standards, EU policy and 5 member state case studies for the European Network Against Racism (ENAR). This review identified common and linking threads in relation to educational goals, aims and practical approaches towards addressing racism and educational inequalities across national boundaries. The review resulted in a publication covering the main areas identified and recommendations for action at an EU level.
Global Business Leadership: The Change Institute conducted this important piece of research in partnership with the Indian High Commission. In response to the dramatic global shifts and the growth of Indian business, this was a primary research study into the experiences of Indian business executives based in the UK that aims to interrogate the commonalities and differences in the development of effective business relationships.
